Garam Masala

This makes about a tablespoon of spice.


  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom seeds from green cardamon pods
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of black peppercorns


Toast the spices in dry skillet over a medium heat until they are fragrant. Remove from the heat and when they are cool, grind them to a powder in a coffee grinder or spice mill.
